The 2020 Book of the Year is This Is My Song by Richard Yaxley
Richard Yaxley's This is My Song, is a three-generation family story of a grandfather who survives Auschwitz and whose grandson revives a song written before the war.
A free copy of the book is to be given to every new student, and first year courses across the university to draw on the cultural and social themes of the novel and enhance student perspectives.
This initiative will bring forward the joy of reading fiction as a way of developing empathy and to engage with the world and wider community.
The ACU Book of the Year program is a great incentive for the chosen novelist with about 10,000 books to be handed out during orientation.
