North Sydney

The North Sydney Library is named after Doctor Victor Couch (1926-1996), a leading figure in Catholic Education in New South Wales. Dr Couch played an important role in bringing the Catholic College of Education Sydney into the national university system. As Chairman of the College Council, he was a member of the Australian Catholic University Planning Committee and was instrumental in transforming the College into the Australian Catholic University.

He was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia on 12th June 1989 and received an Honorary Doctorate from ACU on 11th April 1996.
