Canberra
Canberra’s Lewins Library was named after Sister Rosemary Lewins, a Dominican sister with a strong commitment to education, especially educational administration. She began her teaching career at Cronulla High School in 1963. After teaching at a number of schools across NSW and ACT, Sister Rosemary became principal of the Signadou Dominican College of Education in Canberra. This later became a campus of Australian Catholic University.
Sister Rosemary was the Foundation Dean of Students/Director of Ministry at the new University from 1995 to 2001. She was elected Prioress of the Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands from 2001 to 2009.
