Need a laptop for study? ACU students can borrow a laptop from a self-service laptop locker or Library information desk, depending on the campus.

Laptop loans are intended for short-term study needs, such as when your own device is unavailable or being repaired. Library laptops can be used for some exams (the Cadmus version of LockDown Browser is installed).

Borrowing locations

Self-service laptop lockers

  • Blacktown
  • Brisbane
  • Melbourne

  • Strathfield

Information desk laptop loans are available during staffed hours only.

Loan conditions and responsibilities

  • Laptop loans are available to ACU students only.
  • You can borrow one laptop for up to 3 business days.
  • Loans cannot be renewed or extended. You may return the laptop and borrow another one if available.
  • Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved.
  • Keep the laptop secure and return it, along with charger and bag, on time and in the same condition.
  • Save your work to OneDrive, a USB drive or another personal storage location. Do not save files to the laptop.
  • Follow the ACU ICT Acceptable Use Policy.

Borrowing from a self-service locker

  1. Check the locker lights for availability – green means a laptop is available.
  2. Sign in at the locker kiosk using your ACU student account.
  3. Accept the loan conditions and privacy statement. Note the due date and time.
  4. Collect the laptop, charger and bag from the assigned locker.
  5. Close the locker door to complete the loan.
  6. Before leaving campus: sign in to the laptop with your ACU credentials and connect to ACU Wi-Fi.

Returning to a self-service locker

Return the laptop to the same campus from which you borrowed it.

  1. Save your work, then log out and shut down the laptop.
  2. Scan the laptop barcode using the kiosk camera.
  3. Report any technical issues using the on-screen form.
  4. Return the laptop, charger and bag to the assigned locker.
  5. Connect the laptop to the charging cable and close the locker door.

Your return is complete when the door is closed and the locker light turns green.

Overdue, lost or damaged laptops

A courtesy reminder will be emailed one day before the laptop is due.

If the laptop is more than 7 days overdue, you will:

  • receive a Bill for Replacement
  • be blocked from borrowing Library items
  • have a University sanction (unable to enrol or re-enrol in a unit, receive results and graduate) placed on your student account.

Contact Library staff as soon as possible if a laptop or accessory is lost or damaged.
