Interlibrary loan delivery times
Delivery times are subject to local and international postal services. Some requests may take longer than others, especially overseas items. Thank you for your patience.
ACU staff (to support their work at ACU) and students can request an interlibrary loan.
Sign into My Library using your ACU credentials and choose 'Request an interlibrary loan' from top navigation bar.
Please note: Document delivery and loans between ACU campus libraries are not considered interlibrary loans.
The conditions under which items are supplied between campuses can be found in requests (section 8) of loans information.

ACU Library recognises that it cannot meet every need from its own collection. Specialist research needs may be met through ACU's participation in national and international resource sharing/interlibrary loan programs. Materials you request via interlibrary loan are usually supplied to you free-of-charge. In some cases, costs may be passed on to the requester.
The Library at its discretion may choose to purchase a resource rather than to borrow it. The item may be added to the Library's collection if appropriate.
In borrowing items from other libraries and institutions, ACU Library complies with relevant aspects of Australian copyright law and our contractual obligations with information suppliers.
ACU staff and students can request interlibrary loans and document delivery services.
Anyone with any overdue items or outstanding fines of $10 or more is not eligible.
ACU Library does not provide interlibrary loan services to support the information needs of ACU staff who are enrolled as students in other institutions. In these instances, the staff member should approach their enrolled institution's library for assistance.
Eligible patrons as defined under 1.1 may have at any one time:
Your ILL request is considered 'active' until:
ACU Library normally uses the standard (Core) service level when requesting interlibrary loans. Requests can take 4-6 weeks to arrive.
Requests for urgently required material may be made at a higher service level (Rush) at the discretion of the Library, and potentially at the cost of the requester (see Section 1.6 below).
ACU Library commonly sources the following types of resources unless they are already held by ACU in physical or electronic format. Service is dependent on the non-ACU lending library:
Where a choice is available, the Library determines the supplier and format of a loan item.
**You can often find a thesis online. Theses are becoming readily available as open access via the degree-granting institutions' digital repository or other dissertation sites. A request for a thesis will be treated either as a purchase for the collection or as a request for a personal copy at the Library's discretion. All queries for a thesis purchase will need to be assessed for availability and/or attached conditions.
Where the ACU Library is responsible for payment of charges associated with interlibrary loans, charges will be met from the Library's Collection Development budget.
The costs of interlibrary loans and use of document supply services are borne by the Library within the limits above EXCEPT in the circumstance where:
Please contact the library.
In its interlending and document delivery services ACU Library operates in accordance with the Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing (ILRS) Code.
In supplying items to requesting libraries ACU undertakes to provide service levels up to Rush level, as specified in the service level standards of the ILRS Code.
When supplying interlibrary loans, ACU Library charges the current ILRS recommended prices for both supply and delivery, except where an interlibrary loan or resource-sharing agreement has been established.
Libraries using Libraries Australia Document Delivery Payments Scheme (LADD) can make ILL and document delivery requests via LADD. Payment is handled via LADD Payment Invoice Reports, sent bi-monthly to participating libraries.
By invoice - please send your request to LibILL.Requesting@acu.edu.au
Core (4 day)
Rush (48 hours)
ACU Research theses can usually be accessed via Research Bank, ACU's research repository.
If you cannot find the thesis on Research Bank, the Library may be able to arrange alternate access but as this will be considered a purchase, conditions and charges may apply. Please email your purchase query to LibILL.Requesting@acu.edu.au.
Requesting libraries requiring more assistance are encouraged to email LibILL.Requesting@acu.edu.au.
NUC symbol for all campus libraries is NACU:E
