50 Years of Deadly (literature)

For NAIDOC Week 2026, we invite you to explore 50 years of First Nations voices through our collections.

NAIDOC Week 2026 marks an important milestone: 50 Years of Deadly. The theme is a tribute to the people who built the movement, using each year to call for truth, celebrate culture and honour resistance.

Storytelling has always played an essential role in NAIDOC Week, and to mark this year's theme, we've curated a selection of works from our collection. Spanning the 1970s to the 2020s, they reflect different moments in First Nations storytelling and offer a starting point for deeper connection.

From traditional stories and autobiography to award-winning fiction, poetry and works that challenge conventional understandings of Australian history, these titles and authors reflect many of the themes NAIDOC Week has championed over the past 50 years.

Explore these trailblazing works and many others by outstanding First Nations authors in the ACU Library collections.
