Reserve your Blacktown Human Library ticket

Borrow a Human Book at the Blacktown ACU Human Library on Wednesday 30 August. Have a 20-minute conversation and see life from a different perspective.

Ever wondered what it is like to walk in someone else’s shoes?
Are you open to challenging preconceptions, gaining greater understanding, and getting to know someone from the wider community?
Then the ACU Human Library is for you.

What is it?

At the ACU Human Library event, our books are people. Our Human Books are volunteers from all walks of life. They often represent societal groups that are misunderstood or subjected to prejudice, discrimination, exclusion, or stigma.

As a participant, you 'borrow' a Human Book for up to 20 minutes. You have an open and judgement-free conversation and ask questions about the book's topic. Then you return your book and may borrow another. Through positive dialogue, a Human Library encourages new ideas and ways of thinking in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

This year, Blacktown’s book titles include:

  • Priest
  • Muslim
  • Wheelchair-bound
  • Refugee
  • Pagan
  • Queer
  • Anti-natalist
  • Neurodivergent
  • Transgender
  • Domestic abuse survivor
