Do you prefer to listen rather than read?

Do you sometimes need help to understand unfamiliar words, research assignments or proof-read your work? Read&Write might be the tool for you.

Read&Write is a free toolbar to support reading comprehension. You can decide what might work for you:

  • Dictionary & Picture dictionary – to help with word comprehension.
  • Text-to-speech – reads out loud words, passages, or whole documents.
  • Screenshot reader – write, edit, and add text or shapes to PDFs, where text is often inaccessible.
  • Screen masking – tints the screen to assist the focus on specific parts of the screen or text.
  • Web search – searches a highlighted word.
  • Translator – Provides a written translation and ability to hear the word read aloud.
  • Highlighters – ability to highlight important text.

Read & Write is available on all student computers at your campus library. You can also download a version to use at home.
