A snapshot of Saint Carlo Acutis, one of ACU’s Patron Saints.
This weekend marked the feast day of Saint Carlo Acutis (1991–2006). Fondly referred to by many as the ‘patron saint of the internet’ and ‘God’s influencer,’ his canonisation last month officially made Acutis the first millennial saint.
Throughout his short but hugely impactful life, Saint Carlo Acutis had a passion for technology, innovation, and making knowledge accessible and inclusive. While his faith was extraordinary, it’s easy to see a snippet of yourself or your peers in Acutis. Beyond his miracles, Acutis was a teenage boy who reflected the times we live in. He is a saint, but his life was punctuated by a love of Pokémon, films and video games and a passion for computer coding. He demonstrated unwavering solidarity with marginalised groups and sought to welcome everyone into his orbit, and many people take inspiration from how his remarkable life exemplifies faith in the digital age. His example shows us that all the trappings of the modern world can exist in harmony with a life of empathy and service.
