50 Years of Deadly (literature)
News 6 JulyFor NAIDOC Week 2026, we invite you to explore 50 years of First Nations voices through our collections.
Check out North Sydney Library’s curated display celebrating the scientific work of 19th-century trailblazer Father Julian Tenison Woods.
On display outside of North Sydney Library’s Historical Publications Room, Documenting Nature explores the influence Father Julian Tenison Woods had in the field of natural history. A pioneering scientist, educator and priest, Woods’ ideas still shape how we understand Australia’s natural world.
This display is arranged as a compact timeline, tracing his career through key publications, awards and rare archival material from the library’s collections. It begins with his first book, Geological Observations in South Australia, and guides you through to his final work, Cuyos Archipelago. You’ll also uncover items you won’t find online, including an uncut copy of The Desert Sandstone and Woods’ international science medals.
Can’t make it on campus to see the display? You can find ACU Library’s Julian Tenison Woods collection and digital timeline online.
