On show: students’ petite quilts

Admire the works of the talented TECH209 students and discover the inspiration for their quilts.

Emily Ashelford's quiltEach year, Strathfield Library hosts an exhibition of petite quilts created by TECH209 students. Due to COVID, the show is going online allowing us to share their talents with a wider audience.

Sewing by hand and machine, students combine pieces of fabrics, including hand-dyed/printed fabrics which feature various surface techniques such as screen printing, dyeing and digital sublimation printing.

Individual quilts respond to various cultural references and are inspired by visual artworks. Students also worked in small groups to develop a colour palette upon which they each base a quilt which are then assembled as a set.

Enjoy the exhibition!
