Publishing your data to actively make your research data accessible to others.

• Submit the data that underpins a journal article (together with the manuscript) to a publisher. An increasing number of publishers/individual journals require submission of datasets. ACU authors should check a journals' data sharing policy before submitting their manuscript.
• Deposit research datasets in an institutional or disciplinary repository.
• Submit the data for publication in a data journal. Read about data journals and access a list from Max Planck.

Manage data

Manage your data to prepare for publication:

• Obtain a persistent identifier such as a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to ensure your research data can be discovered and accessed once published.
• Select and use open access (data) repositories and publications (where appropriate) to increase access to your data.
• Select the most appropriate licence/s for your work to facilitate sharing, acknowledgement and attribution.
