An identifier such as an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) or a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) can make your research more discoverable and citeable.
The Library can provide you with these identifiers if you meet certain conditions.
An ISBN can be allocated to material produced by current staff and students of Australian Catholic University and published by the University and its departments.
You can request an ISBN for items such as:
A list of products and entities eligible for ISBNs is available from Thorpe-Bowker, the operators of the Australian ISBN Agency.
Once we have received your application an ISBN will be allocated and sent to you by email.

Under the Copyright Act 1968, publishers and self-publishing authors must deposit a copy of any work published in Australia with the National Library of Australia (NLA).
In some cases you may also need to deposit a copy with your state library.

The Library can mint a DOI for scholarly material produced by current ACU staff and students which has been deposited in Research Bank.

Higher Degree by Research theses have DOIs automatically assigned when deposited in Research Bank.
We do not create DOIs for items that have not been published by Australian Catholic University such as journal articles, books and book chapters as publishers may have already assigned a DOI to this content.
