You can make requests for items that are:
ACU staff and HDR students may suggest an item for purchase by completing the Suggest a purchase form.
You can place a hold request:
- online – sign in to My Library, search for the item, under Get It > Request Options click on Request (to request physical items like books) or Scan Request (for a scanned copy of a chapter, article or section to be sent to your email - copyright restrictions apply)
- in person at the Information Desk.
When the item is available we will send an email to your ACU email address. The item will be held for:
- five days if it is a standard loan
- one day if it is a restricted loan.

Restricted and high demand loans (for example 3 day loans) can only be requested from your home library.
You can request items from another campus to be sent to your home campus library for you to pick up.
To request an intercampus loan, sign in to My Library, search for the item, under Get It > Request Options click on Request (to request physical items like books) or Scan Request (for a scanned copy of a chapter, article or section to be sent to your email - copyright restrictions apply).
Book chapters and journal articles can also be scanned and emailed to your ACU email address.
- Scans are sent via email.
- You can have 10 intercampus loans at any one time (30 for staff and higher degree students).
- Requested items will be loaned to you if you have no overdue items and your fines are under $10.
- Copyright provisions apply. For books, one chapter or 10% (whichever is greater) and for journal articles, generally one article from each issue. Check with your campus library if unsure.
- You cannot request restricted or high demand items from another campus.

Postal service
Some borrowers can request standard items from any ACU library to be posted to their home address (you are responsible for the return postage). Or pick up requested items from your nearest campus.
The postal service is available for the following students only:
- Higher degree
- Postgraduate
- Off-campus
- ACU Online

Interlibrary loan delivery times
Delivery times are subject to local and international postal services. Some requests, especially overseas items, can take up to 4 – 6 weeks to arrive. Thank you for your patience.
ACU staff and students can request items not held in our ACU Library collection (interlibrary loans) for the purpose of research or study.
Sign into My Library using your ACU credentials and search for the item you require.
- If you are unable to find what you need, click include resources not held by ACU Library to expand your search beyond the ACU Library collection.
- From the results, you can select Request it from other libraries. Options for requesting the item will be displayed if you are signed in.
- If the resource you require is not appearing in these results, select Request an interlibrary loan.
- You can also Request digital interlibrary loans in bulk.
View your current interlibrary loans and the status of your requests in My Library.
- You will receive an email when the item is available to collect from your local campus library. Chapters and articles will be sent to you electronically or as an email attachment.
- Loan periods vary according to the lending institution, ranging from 2 – 8 weeks.
- Requested items may include books, book chapters, conference papers, DVDs, journal articles and videos.
- Titles held in the ACU Library collection will not be obtained on interlibrary loan. This includes ebooks.
- Requested items will be loaned to you if you have no overdue items and your fines are under $10.
- Copyright provisions apply. For books, one chapter or 10% (whichever is greater) and for journal articles, generally one article from each issue. You must not have previously been supplied with a copy of the same item or article. Check with your campus library if unsure.
- You can cancel an interlibrary loan by signing in to My Library and then click on Requests.
- Fines apply to overdue interlibrary loans. Read more about library fines.
