This ORCID Week we’re celebrating the benefits of having an ORCID iD, and helping you make the most of it.
Connect and share your research
Your ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) connects you to all your research publications, grants and your institutional affiliation. It is a persistent and unique identifier that:
distinguishes you and your research from other researchers with a similar name
helps you claim ownership of your work
allows you to gather all your research activities together.
Another aspect of an ORCID ID is its ability to link to other systems and platforms and push your information and research activities through to them, freeing up your time in data entry.
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) have also begun to integrate ORCID with their Sapphire grants management system.
Make your ORCID grow
Not only is having an ORCID iD becoming necessary for publication and grant submissions, it is becoming necessary to enrich the data that in your ORCID record.
To help your ORCID grow:
Ensure your institutional affiliation is updated on your ORCID record- this will make it easier at grant submission time.
Streamline the way your ORCID record is updated using ORCID Search and Link Wizard to connect information about your publications to your ORCID iD.
Make your ORCID iD visible to the public.
Add your ORCID iD when you submit manuscripts for publication, to aid in claiming ownership of your research.
