A request for a thesis will be treated either as a purchase for the collection or as a request for a copy. Student requests must be accompanied by a statement from the supervisor, or lecturer, indicating the relevance to the student's study.
Purchases to support a program or research that has special funding
Where funding is available the cost of a request will be charged to that cost centre. The thesis will be supplied to the requestor, who may donate it to the Library at the completion of the research.
Purchase by the Library
If the thesis is suitable for inclusion in the Library collection it will be purchased and then made available for loan to the requestor. If the item is not relevant to the collection, as defined in the Collection Development Policy, it can be retained by the requestor. A paper copy is the preferred format for purchase.
If the thesis is not suitable for inclusion in the Library collection it will be obtained through Interlibrary Loan and the copy will be retained by the requestor. The cost will be borne by the Library.
